New Polytan football turf for the Bulls Arena in Salzburg

The existing artificial turf in the Red Bull Stadium in Salzburg has been removed by a Polytan team and replaced with the new top of the range product LigaTurf RS+ in record time.

The LigaTurf football turf which had been in place until then had served the Bulls well. Overall some 300 games of football had been placed on the Polytan artificial turf in the four years it had been installed, during which the Bulls won two championships, hosted several UEFA qualification games, seen 1,400 days of training, staged a wide range of different sporting and cultural events and in 2008 it provided the basis for the European Championships. During this time it passed the required FIFA Recommended 2 Star tests without any problems and in particular it provided constant safe values for the criteria such as force dissipation and deformation which are so important for player protection.

The current top of the range Polytan LigaTurf RS+ can do a whole host of things better than its predecessor.. Based on the experience gathered from Salzburg, the cross-section, thickness and formulation of the product have again been modified to create better rebound properties and therefore to make the playing properties of the turf surface even better. The new Cool Plus fibre ensures that the turf surface is more pleasant, even in very high temperatures. The high quality material formulation makes the artificial turf filaments soft, gently on the skin and resistant to wear. The new BionPro infill material has a completely neutral odour and is extremely gentle on the skin and can be recycled again after use. The special granulation of the rubber ensures that the turf offers excellent traction and sliding properties.

The Polytan system construction has proven itself particularly good here. The elastic layer with integral turf heating system has not been removed, of course. The turf above it was removed using special equipment once the sand and rubber granulate had been stripped away. The experience of the Polytan team and the special Polytan machines developed for this purpose meant that it was possible to hand over the completed football turf back to Red Bull after a construction period of around 14 days ready for a youth tournament staged on 19 June 2009.
